Haikyuu!! (Japanese: バガボンド, Hepburn: Bagabondo) is a celebrated Japanese epic martial arts manga series, both authored and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue. The story offers a dramatized account of the life of the iconic Japanese swordsman Musashi Miyamoto, taking cues from Eiji Yoshikawa’s novel Musashi. Since its launch in September 1998, it has been featured in Kodansha’s seinen manga publication Morning, with its chapters collected into 37 tankōbon volumes by July 2014. Viz Media obtained the rights for English distribution in North America and successfully published all 37 volumes by April 2015. The series has been on an indefinite hiatus since May 2015.
